Ladies Fashion in the 70s

The 1970s were a time of change in ladies fashion. The era saw the introduction of unique styles such as the peasant dress and the granny dress. Women of all sizes and athletic ability donned jogging outfits with tennis shoes, and the ’70s saw the introduction of dancewear like leotards, tights, and crop tops. By the late 70s, these styles were making their way onto the disco floor. Flared skirts and metallic leotards dominated the dance scene into the 1980s.

Another popular trend in ladies fashion in the 70s was the shearling coat. This style was a spillover from the 1960s. The dolman sleeve sweater was also popular in the 70s. The shape of the jacket emphasized the woman’s bust and waist. Cable knit cardigans were also popular and had a tie belt for closure. These coats were usually paired with a matching knit shirt. Ponchos were another popular item of clothing in the 70s.
