Ladies Fashion Face Masks

With the coronavirus pandemic causing a resurgence in public health concerns, many people are finding it necessary to wear masks. To help elevate the look of these protective garments, designers are incorporating face coverings into their collections in ways that are both stylish and practical. While some may think it’s inappropriate or tacky to put fashion ahead of protection, others are embracing the trend. Whether you’re into wearing a mask that makes you look like a unicorn or one that has a fun pattern, the options are endless.

Some of our favorites are made by ethical brands that strive to merge fashion, art and sustainability. The Danish label HELMSTEDT, for instance, is using deadstock fabric from its previous collections to create women’s masks with expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colors that can be worn with the brand’s matching accessories. Meanwhile, Chicago-based designer Akese Stylelines is putting a modern spin on the traditional African Ankara print to create feminine masks that can be paired with matching headwraps and neckpieces.

Other face masks are crafted in more traditional ways, with intricate embroidery of scenes from nature. These pieces, which come in a variety of sizes, can be worn with dresses and tops for an athleisure-inspired look. Some are even reversible for added versatility.

When shopping for a fashionable mask, look for one that fits your head snugly without being too tight. If you’re looking for a mask that can be worn while doing sports, opt for polyester and spandex blends similar to scuba material. These fabrics will wick moisture away and keep you comfortable during the most strenuous workouts. For the best fit, choose a mask with adjustable ear loops or bands that wrap around your head.

A good quality ladies fashion face mask should be lightweight and breathable to ensure it feels comfortable and doesn’t interfere with your vision. Also, look for a mask that is treated to be anti-microbial and resistant to moisture, so it won’t absorb bacteria or sweat as easily.

To stay safe while protecting your face, be sure to look for a mask that’s easy to remove and wash. You should also avoid putting your face or hair against surfaces that could harbor germs and cause infection. If you must touch something, wash your hands first and then put on your mask to prevent contamination.

While we’re happy to see that some of our favorite designers are combining protection with fashion, it’s important to remember that fashion-forward masks aren’t medically approved or a substitute for other recommended PPE (personal protective equipment). Continue to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing while wearing your new, stylish addition to your wardrobe.
